University of MannheimThe main goal of the series is to create a podium for Europe-wide descriptions of the interaction of European languages with each other and with non-European languages in the past and the present. The view of European languages in interaction requires language researchers of a completely different scholarly background than traditionally trained scholars. Eurolinguists are more concerned with language development and change from an overall European point of view. The term "Eurolinguistics" encompasses such a common view of Europe-wide contacts, which result in linguistic convergence or divergence.
